"The MP" Mobarick Abdullah III x Philip Bennett Walker Installation
The artists who make up “The MP” could not have come from more different backgrounds. Mobarick Abdullah III was brought up in Pittsburgh. Life as a kid was all about sports. When he wasn’t performing on the field, he was creating. The city was a big canvas and Mo would spend time imagining the color he could use to fill in the otherwise gray landscape of the Steel City.
Philip Bennett Walker grew up in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The ocean and the palm trees were his backdrop to life. Sports to Philip was all about surfing and snowboarding. He started his art career in Aspen, Colorado in 2002 and he has been creating scenic wonderlands ever since. A beach boy and a city boy. Two very different upbringings, and together they create a unique reality.
There’s color where there should be gray, and gray where there should be color. It all started with a chance meeting in Jacksonville Beach in 2015. They started showing together the next year, and their blended styles have been catching the eye of art collectors across the globe ever since. In 2018, they shared their works with audiences in Miami, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
